CAREER DEVELOPMENT TALK
The Office of the Academic Secretary, Jomo Kenyatta University Students Association (JKUSA), successfully hosted a Career Development Talk on Monday, 23rd February 2026, at JKUAT Karen Campus. The session brought students and industry professionals together for an engaging discussion on navigating the transition from campus life to the professional world.
The event attracted approximately 150 students, reflecting a growing awareness among students of the need to prepare proactively for an evolving and competitive job market. It was officially opened by the Dean, School of Law, Dr. Stephen Aminga, who underscored the importance of discipline, intentional career planning, and aligning academic training with industry expectations.
The panel featured Mr. Paul Mugambi, Group Head of Regulatory & Public Sector Engagement at Baobab Circle Limited; Dr. Kennedy Senagi, Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Data Manager at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology; and Mr. Mogesi Joel, a Lawyer and Legal Analyst specializing in Commercial Disputes, Arbitration, Finance, and Investment.
Dr. Senagi reminded students that the job market increasingly rewards graduates who combine technical expertise with adaptability and strong problem-solving skills. Speakers offered realistic perspective on workplace expectations, career progression, and the value of continuous learning, professional branding and strategic positioning.
An interactive Q&A session allowed students to engage panelists directly on specialization pathways, skill prioritization and industry readiness — reinforcing the value of open dialogue between academia and industry.
Beyond individual career guidance, the talk strengthened university–industry linkages and affirmed JKUSA's commitment to holistic student development and career preparedness.
